The European Chamber for Sustainable Development (ECSD) promotes the combined study and research on the availability of safe food for humans, the respect of animal welfare, the protection of the environment from chemical fertilizers and pesticides and in general the development of sustainable agriculture, through the implementation of educational programs and the elaboration of research and experimental development.

Scientists from a wide range of disciplines, conduct research programs aimed at the development and implementation of new trends in food and agriculture and are carried out in collaboration with universities and research centers in Greece and abroad.

In this context, the Chamber organized workshops and seminars to farmers (individuals and their associations), processors and scientists, in order to educate, inform and help them to implement new developments in their field of activity. The most widely used training subjects were and are Organic Farming Methods, Good Agricultural Practices and Food Safety. Indicatively, we relate:

In July 2007, the Municipality of Koilada organized an informative event on “Organic Agriculture – Livestock”, with participants the Chamber and the Directorate of Rural Development of the Prefecture of Larissa, in the context of actions and projects that help inform farmers in Modern Agriculture, which took place on Wednesday, July 4, 2007, in the municipal district of Koilada, Municipality of Koilada, Prefecture of Larissa.

In December 2007, the Agricultural Association of Trikala, in cooperation with the Chamber, in an effort to approach, understand and apply the new economic data in agricultural production and marketing, organized a conference on “Integrated Management in Plant Production and Nutritional Value – Food Safety – Innovative Food”, which  took place in the Hall of the Chamber of Trikala, on Monday, December 10, 2007.

On December 15, 2007, the European Network for Regional Development and the Chamber of Commerce organized on December 14, 15 and 16, 2007, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the “Festival of Greek Honey and Bee Products”. In the framework of the Festival, an open discussion on “Organic Beekeeping” took place.

The Chamber, in cooperation with the Network of Development – Promotion “Hotels in Greece”, held an informative conference on: “Quality services in tourism – the example of hotels”, which took place on Monday, August 25, 2008 in Elati, Trikala. In the framework of the conference, an exhibition of organic products from local producers operated, while all participants were offered dinner with organic products.
